Curvy me!

Most of you know that I am curvy to say the least. Possibly not as big as I might lead you to believe, but curvy none the less. Curvier since I had a bra fitting...I went up a cup size (or two) and down a dress size, not bad without surgery! was just staggered at the fact I'm a 38f!! I need new undies now!

Changes in my meds though have meant that I have regained some of the weight I lost, due to the meds I was on last year. Beta blockers are associated wih weight gain....sigh! talk about not being able to catch a break.

I am gearing myself up for a social event in honour of a family member who has made some nasty comments about my weight in the past. ( one was 'you must eat like a pig to be that big' honestly!) So I am panicing about what to wear and how to stay positive.
This woman once looked me up and down at a wedding (and I looked GOOD) and said she liked my shoes!!

I do avoid her like the plague and ignore her but comments like that are nasty and do hurt.

However, a few things I've read have realy made me think.
I decided I'm not going to fight my body anymore. I am going to look at its positives etc, flaught the gorgeous bits and learn to improve and disguise the not so great bits.

Therefore I have signed up for fat acceptance blogs and fatshion blogs. What a blast some of these ladies are beautiful and inspire me with Project Va va voom. I love the fact Vogue and ASOS have curvy blogs and ranges. I am begining to realise I prefer men and woman who are a bit more cuddly. I think it looks nicer. But thats my preference. I get that it's not everyones. Honestly I feel and look great and so pretty, everyone should do something like it.

But what I notice is the people that have real deep seated angry feelings towards overweight people. This has slowly dawned on me. mainly because when I was slimmer certain people were nicer to me, now I'm getting biger and we're talking a mere dress size here, I can see them go cold on me. And this birthday bash is meaning I am getting worried...

Online I have read some amazingly negative comments... but what stuns me is that people really feel they have a right to talk to people who are overweight as if they are subhuman, as if they are morally suspect and must be punished, denied medical treatment, shunned from social placed, laughed at for being sexual beings, it's as if we are dirty or diseased.

And then we come to the overweight people who view themselves as 'real woman' and anyone slim as 'starvng themselves'....oh come on...surely any woman breathing is a real woman regardless of size? That makes you just as bad as the slimmer people who slag you off.

Isn't thsi just like body bigotry?

I'm not going to change anyones view that big is beautiful...thats not my issue..but surely people must realise that being remotely polite will go a long way and if someone only loves you for your figure, wow trust me, that can go quickly and without mercy, believe me I know.

I remember one guy I went out will in all seriousness said he'd find me more desirable if I lost weight...I remember being stunned into silence as this bloke was tubby, very very cute but undeniably tubby and more overweight than me. Before I found my voice he had proposed. I declined and swiftly chucked him without regret.....and in no uncertain terms told him why. I would NEVER say anything like that to someone. Ever.

I do put a certain effort into how I look and would to an extent expect my partner to do the same, just a little. Not to the extent its the focus of my life, far from it. I like to look and smell and feel pretty and I do.

I just cannot for the life of me understand why people need to be horrible about bigger people. If you don't find them attractive, fine.
But be warned I don't find mean people appealing.

Choices.

This blog was supposed to be about things that I find inspirational. I have been a wee bit lax lately but hay hum, that's life.

I found this wonderful prose called 'Attitude'. Please note that it's not written by me, but I love it. It may be slightly cheesy and saccharine sweet but I don't care.

On my to-do list it says: I will print this out and put it somewhere prominent!

Here goes,

Attitude.

I woke up early today, so excited over all I get to do before the clock strikes midnight. I have responsibilities to fulfil today.

I am important. My job is to chose what kind of day I am going to have.

Today I can complain because the weather is rainy or I can be thankful that the grass is getting watered for free.

Today I can feel sad that I don't have more money or I can be glad that my finances encourage me to plan my purchases wisely and guide me away from waste.

Today I can grumble about my health or I can rejoice that I am alive.

Today I can lament over all that my parents never gave me when I was growing up or I can feel grateful that they allowed me to be born.

Today I can cry because roses have thorns or I can celebrate that thorns have roses.

Today I can mourn my lack of friends or I can excitedly embark on a quest to discover new relationships.

Today I can whine because I have to go to work or I can shout for joy because I have a job to do.

Today I can complain because I have to go to school or eagerly open my mind and fill it with tidbits of knowledge.

Today I can murmur dejectedly because I have to do housework or I can feel honoured because the Lord has provided shelter for my mind, body and soul.

Today stretches ahead of me waiting to be shaped. And here I am the sculptor who gets to do the shaping.

What today will be like is up to me.

I get to chose what kind of day I will have.

Ups and downs!

What a horrible start to my day.
I am a bit of a taxi person, I get them more often than I should really, but I argue it's less than it'd cost to run a car, never mind put me through my test. I also love the slight luxury of it. I adore black cabs especially. I've seen so many glamorous people photographed in them that they always make me feel a little bit special!
Anyway this morning all I'll say is my taxi driver was a horrible awful person. So much so I have actually written a complaint complete with photos!!
With that start I launched into a typical Monday morning, I was late for a class and therefore was all harassed. It took me to four pm to get back my usual equilibrium.

My theory is though that whenever I meet a horrible person there's always something amazing round the corner to even up the score!
Today it was my colleague G. A truly lovely man who I find really inspirational in the way he looks at life. I didn't tell him about my taxi drama but we had a quick general chat and I just felt better. But as good as he was there was something better......,,!
This years cygnets were there when Mr C and I got home!

Here's a photo! How adorable are these??

A compliment a day....

I have had a lovely if slightly bizarre day.

I had a night out with Mr C last night straight from work so I left my diary on my desk. BIG mistake.

I had two appointments today one to pick up my new corset. It's all made to measure and is lovely. Black satin and a underbust one. I love it.
The other appointment was a to get my hair done. I got the two times mixed up. So it was a bit of a rush when I realised.

The new corset is beautiful...so comfy... I'm going to wear it and wear it.

So I legged it back to my hairdresser to get my hair done. If anyone has seen Mistresses and remembers Jessica's hair do from series one, thats what I aimed for. It's all sort of modern and asymmetrical....A real change for me but I love it.

I then popped into Boots which is where the bizarreness all happened.

I was restocking up on my Ponds cold cream... when this lady started chatting to me about how she used to use it years ago, I said that had used it for a while and that I read in an interview Kylie used it too.....she looked amused at that and we had a wee discussion about skin care. She kept saying I was the right age to start being so young...I laughed and said I wasn't that young but thanks, she looked at me and said I was early twenties surely....I really started to laugh and told her I was 37, she was gratifyingly surprised, just then another lady came up and asked me did I use POnds as I was holding the box in my hand. I said I did and she joined in our conversation about skin care. The first lady couldn't wait to ask the new lady my age and seemed to get more of a kick than me when I told her...she reckoned I was in my early twenties too. Turns out she was 70 and the first lady was 79...neither looked their age. we had a wander about the shelves together and decided I need a toner so went for the shops rosewater and glycerin one.

I spent a whole £6.48 on the Ponds and on the toner.
We all hugged each other goodbye and said we should have a reunion next to the moisturisers in six weeks to see how we got on.
I suspect Boots might have ninga sales woman who sell by stealth. Because these two were deadly, If they don't it's a cracking way to do it.

It was a really lovely and random moment that so made my day.
Next I went to farmfoods to get some milk where I had another conversation with someone at the checkout about milk and bread and how she got a real bargin and was so chuffed but would just have to drink the extra milk she had bought!

On to the car park where I was stopped for direction by a older couple who were obviously dressed for a wedding. The woman was wearing a lovely red dress and I complimented her on it, she was all thrilled and told me it was her cousins wedding and she had been all worried about what to wear, I told her she looked gorgeous , she did, she was delighted. Her hubby looked at her as if he was just so proud of her. It was just lovely.

So I decided to try and give a sincere compliment once a day from now on as I really saw how a nice compliment can just make someones day. We all find it easier to be critical and tear someone down....I want to try and do the opposite. And if I felt the need to pass on my good mood, I'm sure others will.

Ok this is just a cute pic. But makes me smile!

I have two cats. This is Betty . She's your typical girlie, dainty White and pink cat. With a streak of pure evil in her, but we love her. She has mellowed drastically in the last year and follows me around with a hopeful expression, not wanting a hug, oh no! Just me to sit so she can elegantly perch on me, she may deign to actually lie down sometimes or rather drape across me. But her real mission in life is to make sure we get to the toilet safely and in one piece. She has to escort you and will wait till your done and escort you back to where ever. Quite comforting at four in the morning

So here she is with her new best friend!

Tomorrows today!

Ain't technology amazing! I have just worked out how to blog from my phone!!! Next it'll be uploading photos!

I have spent most of my time in blogland Reading and lurking around other peoples blogs and I have to say having a whale of a time. Today had been a bit stressful due to a dodgy, leaky water heater!! So I'm having problems sleeping... Hence fiddling with my phone.

I started this blog with the veiw to record things that inspire me so I supose this comes firmly under that heading as now I can post blog entries as and when they occur to me!

Here's hoping I keep it up!

I think I may attempt to post a photo, something pretty..... Hmmmm let's see!

Ok this was snapped a few weeks ago on my way to the bank.. Isn't it pretty? and very unlikely.
But it raised my spirits and made me smile on a busy day.... What else can you ask for?

Beauty Blogs....

I have discovered the joys of the fatshion bloggers... which is why I just have been reading and not posting.

Imagine my joy when I discovered the joy of a beauty blog! I could read about nail varnish and products. I never really got into it during my twenties and my thirties so far have been spent in working and fighting illnesses.

Now I'm a fighting fit, curvy 37 (and a half) year old.

Now as much as I love the beauty blogs I follow and am a ware that most of them are woman at least ten years younger than me..... so if any of you know any woman my size and age who have a blog either fashion or beauty, could you let me know.

I just find the Outfits Of The Day fantastic. So far they have really inspired me.
Basically this means the amount of time I have spent in front of my wardrobe in tears drastically reduced. These woman are curvy and proud and well may they be as they are all gorgeous!! Seeing someone roughly the same shape as me look so good can't fail to cheer me up.

I love the product reviews helpful... and I find the nails of the day just to be fun. I don't get to the shops much... although I adore make up and product, basially I work during the week away from shops and detest the shops at the weekend. So I do alot of shopping online. Being able to read someone elses view of a product, whether it be a lipstick/gloss or face cream I find oddly incredibly satisfying.

So thank you to the bloggers I follow.

I said this blog was to share stuff that inspires and you certainly do.

The first of many, I hope..

This will be the latest of many of my blogs.

This is one step further towards my being quite public...it's the first one that has my face on it for a start.

I decided that I wanted to have a place where I could keep a record of stuff that inspired or motivated me. And I wanted to post pictures. I have a shiny new iPhone and I have got into the habit of taking random snaps of things I find interesting. I intend to post them here. That way they won't get lost in the mess that is my docments folder.

So where will I start?

OK..I think it'll be the swans. I live near some water and last year managed to snap some cute photos of the family of swans that swam thrice daily up and down. Basically it was mum, dad and three gorgeous cygnets..when we arrived here the cygnets were really big, but still browny coloured.

I love these photos.
